Randomly experiencing garbled / missing Internet content

I have been having this problem for about a year now and I don't know what else I can do, so I am hoping someone can help me.

I have an Inspiron 7000 notebook running Win2K connected to a Linksys cable router via a wireless card.  The connection itself is fine -- I get an IP, no dropping, good signal, etc.  What happens is that periodically anything internet related (I use mostly IE & Trillian) starts blanking out on parts of its content.  For example, in IE, a web page will load about half of its content, but will indicate that it's done.  Or Trillian will pop up a message window, but the text will be blank.  Again, the connection itself does not drop nor do I get any sort or error messages.

Sometime this problem happens after a few hours of the laptop being on, sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes not at all.  A reboot usually fixes the issue temporarily.  I know it's particular to this machine, because I have a Latitude with the same OS and I've never had it happen on that one.  I have tried switching cards, I have updated the router's firmware several times, and I have upgraded both IE and Trillian.  I have done umpteen virus scans.  Nothing I do seems to make this totally go away.

Any ideas would be most appreciated!

Check to see if you have any spyware installed on that machine, this is a big problem now days. Try this link www.lavasoftusa.com. Download the app, run an update then perform a scan. It sounds like your browser may be getting pegged by ad generating spyware on your system. Either that or try reistalling your browsers applications over again, I've seen this happen especially with IE from time to time a reinstall usually fixes.

Thanks anthony26!  I installed the Lavasoft software and it found a whole bunch of adware/spyware to remove.  Hopefully that will fix the issue.  Appreciate the suggestion -- cheers!
