Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

The telephone company needs to step in here by providing call waiting.  You would also need to update the program using the modem so that it can stop sending data when an incoming call occurs.

I have a new Dell Inspiron 5100 Windows XP w/ Microsoft Office added, and call waiting. It will not cut off when there is an incoming call.  What should I do to get it to cut off in response to incoming calls.

Please update your Dell Community Forum user profile with your service tag.  Are you having this problem when the system is connected to the Internet or when the system is only plugged into the modem?

It happens when I am on he Internet.

The service tag in your user profile is not correct, it does not exist in the Dell database.  I recommend that you try the following:

• Download the latest driver from the Downloads tab (above).
• Read about the modem-on-hold utility.

My wife bought it for me for Christmas.  We also purchased separately a microsoft office edition.  When Dell sent it to the wrong person , it took weeks to convince them that they did not sent it to us eventhough they had the wrone address on record.  We went through all sorts of gymnastics to finally get what we paid for---Whay am I not surprized that their offuce is unable to track anything?

Thank you for your time.  Is the rest if dell was as prompt as you things may have been different.  It 9s to bad the the rep far out classes the reality.
