Updated Modem Driver

I need your help!  Our ISP has sloth-like connection speeds that vary from 11,300 to 49,333.  Our usual speed is 21,600.  I know, that is so pathetic.  After numerous conversations regarding our speeds and frequent disconnects (soon after we connect at 49,333), the tech told me that our modem driver was 'probably outdated' and we needed a new one.  We have a Conexant HCF V90 56K Data Fax PCI Modem in this Dimension 8100.  The tech told me to go to the Conexant site but I am sure everyone knows what that site referred me to...the computer's manufacturer...DELL!  Now, how do I find out whether I need an updated modem driver?  Where do I find this information?  And if I do need an updated driver...where do I find it?  Yes, I am a novice.....it shows.  Thank you for your patience.

You can find driver updates at:  http://support.dell.com

Open the Downloads section, select the download category (communication drivers), set your Windows version and language preference the click on "go".

Dell's drivers are not always the "latest" versions, just ones that they have tested with their computers.

It is possible that you have the latest version Dell offers already. Check your current driver version number from the Device Manager/Hardware/Modems. Right click on your modem brand listed there and then select properties. Find the driver information and the version number will be listed there.
