Webmail freezes if using Wireless connection...

However, if I use the ethernet connection to my wireless dsl router, I have no problems accessing and logging in to webmail such as with earthlink and Microsoft Web Access.

Periodically, I may get the frame for the Microsoft Web Access and a couple of buttons, but the GUI keeps reporting "loading" and no messages appear.

Since this behaviour only happens with the wireless connection access, I'm pretty sure it's a setting, but have no idea where to look.

new Inspiron 6000, Windows XP Home - SP2  ... Dell wireless ... Connecting to d-link 811.b wireless/router.

Thank you.

Make sure you are using the latest wireless card driver and the D-Link has the latest firmware.  Being 802.11b (older) it may just need new firmware.

thank you, will do. I tested on another (faster) wireless (G) and things are working well there with the Inspiron wireless, so it appears to be a type of time-out / speed issue, which hopefully updated drivers may address. Will see.

If you worked fine on a newer "g" router, that points to the firmware on your router.

The firmware can be updated and I will soon. However, I did come across a link in the DL site for my router ... and was able to address this issue in the interim by bumping up my MTU. Works Great now!!!! Thank you for pointing me in the right direction.  With prices so low, I'll probably just upgrade to a g or g+, but the firmware upgrade will be in the back pocket for future reference.

A "g+" router would be a waste as the Dell card would not support the extra speed.
