Wi-fi problem

I am having a problem connecting through wi-fi.  I have an Inspiron 6000, a Netgear Router and a Westfall #6100 router.  My system was working fine until yesterday and when I tried to connect I am told I have no connectivity.  My status says authenticating.  Status says acquiring IP address.  I do not know what to do.  Can someone help me?

Why do you have two routers?  Have you tried power cycling the router you are trying to connect to?

So, did you try power cycling the router (turn it off then turn it back on)?  If so, what were the results?

Yes and nothing changed.  There is a triangle with an exclamation point in it saying limited or no connectivity.

As a troublshooting step, try connecting the problem computer directly to the router by ethernet.  Do you get a connection that way?  This will tell us if it just a wierless problem or a general Windows problem.  Which version of Windows are you running?

The only way I can get onto the internet is to connect directly to the modem.

I do have security but I do not know how to disable it.  Everything was working just fine and then one afternoon I could not conect with wi-fi.  I did nothing and did not change anything.

Do you have security enabled on the router?  If so, try temporarily disabling the wireless security and see if you can connect.
