Wireless Connection Problem on 8600

I'm having a problem with my wireless connection. I have the Dell 1300 LAN card in my 8600. I can't seem to grab a 192.xxx.x.x IP from my DHCP server. My current IP is 169.xxx.xx.x. I've tried ipconfig /release and /renew and it doesn't do anything. I thought it may have been the LAN card driver so I uninstalled it and installed it and nothing. My card detects my network but it won't grab an IP from the DHCP server. I've also reset my router a few times and still have the same problem. Any ideas will great help?? Its funny because it was working 2 days ago. I brought my laptop to my friends wirless network and it worked fine. The next morning I went to turn it on, I started having this problem. I thought maybe it was his network, but when I got home I was having the same issue. Please help.

    Baldie,

Thank you for using the Dell Community Forum.

Try connecting without the router to see if the computer picks up the IP address.

I connected my laptop to a cable on my network and it worked fine. It was able to grab an IP address, however I cannot get one once I go wireless. I was having this same issue my gf's network, it would not grab an IP. I'm starting to guess this is a PC Card issue. I just bought this pc card from dell a few months ago, so I hope they can fix it for me it that is what the case is. Any other ideas I can try?

    Baldie,

Most routers generate IP addresses of 192.168.?.? and my suggestion was to remove this from the equation by connecting directly to the ISP.

I am having this same exact problem. At home, I can connect to my netgear wireless router without any problems. However, when go I on campus, it absolutely refuses to pick up an IP address from the cisco AP's they use for the their campus-wide wireless networks. This problem just started a few days ago. At first I thought it must be the campus AP's screwing up, since it would work at home. However, I can't seem to see any setting on my wireless config that would allow me to connect at home using DHCP and not on campus, with the same settings.

    So to summarize:

At Home: I can connect to the wireless router and get an IP address

On Campus: I can detect the wireless AP's, but cannot gain an IP address from them (instead getting a 169 address, instead of a 128, which is what it should be).

I never had to change any settings before in going between the two. I tried renewing the IP address (ipconfig), clearing all the settings and resetting them. I upgraded the wireless drivers. None of it worked at all.
