990, can someone help with bios set up ?
Hello... I would like to install a fresh clean installation of Windows 7 with my new SSD drive. And I want to use UEFI setting and under the following System Configuration what is needed to do this installation? The Integrated NIC what should it be Disable, ENabled, Enabled x/PXE or Enabled w/imageServer ... Then >>>Serial Port >> Disabled, COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4 ... Then SATA Operation >>> Disabled, ATA, AHCI, RAID On? And whatever else I might need to do. I know I don't want RAID or do I need it to be? TIA

If you replace the CMOS battery, be sure to go with lithium vs. alkaline.

It's okay I managed to set it up and if you use the default options that doesn't set the UEFI setting it loads the legacy one which isn't what I wanted, again I did get it going and it's funny you mention the battery I just also replaced the motherboard one just prior viewing the post here. Thanks anyway all is good

After Replacing Battery and Saving defaults Drive should be set to AHCI.
Windows will then install as will ubuntu without issue as long as the hard drive is not physically bad.

I can't say about those parameters. But, if you reset the BIOS to the factory setup that is all you (normally) need to do. There should be an option to reset to factory defaults. If not, with it powered off, open the case and remove the CR2032 coin cell battery on the motherboard for at least 10 minutes. That will reset it. Considering the age, this is a good time to replace the battery. CR2032 batteries are popular for many devices and not expensive.
