Optiplex 755 cpu compatibility??

Question

Hey guys, all I need to know is one thing, what is the BEST performing (for gaming) cpu that I can upgrade my optiplex 755 (biggest model) to, I have the model with 8gb of ddr2 ram. Is it a pentium or a core 2 quad and, please list the top 3 or so best performers. Also, if I were to add a relatively strong low-profile gpu aswell, would I need to upgrade my psu??

I'm assuming you have the MT model. Looking at the Technical Guidebook, the best CPUs you can put in there is a Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 and Core 2 Quad Q6600. What are you planning to do with this PC? The GPU you put in this thing depends on what you will use it for.

YOU CANNOT USE a core 2 EXTREME 130W processor.&#xa0; It will damage the motherboard and power supply which is too small.There are NO CPU upgrades that help with games.&#xa0;&#xa0; Zotac GTX 1050 TI MINI&#xa0;would be the upgrade FOR MINI TOWER.&#xa0; This is not a waste of money because you can migrate this to a newer machine.&#xa0;&#xa0; If price&#xa0;and Size&#xa0;is a limiting factor the lowest I would Go is GT 1030.&#xa0; This is for MT&#xa0;OR DT only.&#xa0; Smaller Units power supply is too small.
