I recently acquired a Dell OptiPlex GL 5100 (yes, an OptiPlex and not a Dimension, Inspiron, or any other Dell desktop with 5100 in its name ) and I'm looking for information on it. I know it's from 1996 but I can't find anything on it anywhere. (That's not totally true as I did find a YouTube video on one of its siblings that is in German) At a minimum I'd like to find a user manual and ideally a source of Windows drivers. I'm hoping that someone here know of a source for this information.
Thanks in advance. Have a great day and stay safe.
Thanks for getting back with me and the links. This PC was a normal desktop at a comp[any I am very familiar with. Thanks to the second link you provided I now know the system will accept up to 128MB of memory. If at all possible I would still like to find the manual(s) and downloads for your more recent systems (if possible).
Unfortunately this system may predate Dell's use of Service Tags. The only tag, inside or out of the system, is the serial number 6VN7R. I checked the BIOS and the there isn't a service tag there either.
Thanks for the feedback. Sorry about that. Having so many manuals and tech guides already, I didn't try downloading the manual for myself. Didn't think it would be something I'd use again.
Searching again, I didn't find anything that didn't run me through useless loops and hoops. Nothing on ebay either except for the actual computer.
I appreciate you looking. I have just about everything I need BUT I can't get the system to recognize the CDROM drive. It's an era appropriate BIOS that asks for IDE drive settings which I may find in a manual should I ever find one.
