Depends on the model.
Some models are too old and so finding DDR or DDR2 ram will be difficult.
Some Models that use 32 bit processors aka ATOM are not able to be upgraded.
Use the memory advisor.

Speedy, there is no problem obtaining ddr or ddr2 memory modules.
The dell store probably won't help him either, but many old computer part are on ebay.
