Mechanical DRIVES FAIL. ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY RUN 24 X 7.

SMART comes from bios and the drive so its not related to os or particular dell model. Systems that came with WIN7 are from 2009 so these are 10 years old now. 

Drives should be replaced immediately.

These PC are new 2016, and are 4 years old not 10, right????? so says the wiki........intel CPU GEN 7 in fact.

is this room kept cool?  21C ?

are the PC packed in lint inside, never ever serviced proper?

you never told what drives fail nor if they are  part of RAID system.? (

tell what drives these are make and model,  are the HDD or SSD or a mix?

the SMART does not lie to you, they have now run out of spare sectors, this happens if run to hot , are they.

The smart engine is 100% inside the HDD,  any OS made can read the status even with no BIOS at all like APPLE PC MAC. it's in the drive, this engine. 2001 to NOW(trust it you should)

you need to keep the internal case temps at 35C or less, or hell will be paid. (that is intel spec, btw)

why not remove one drive, and read the label the see name (Seagates are best  for RUST sure enterprise grade)

Then contact seagate, may be there is problem they can ADDRESS, even HDD ROM updates on many.

Even dell hosts updates for HDD updates (flash) on vast drives made  but no drive told yet.

You should have used SSD.

HDD are old skool (sic) no size of drives stated, no maker ,no model no class.

run Crystaldiskinfo.exe (free)_  and show the screen on one failing drive, caution also means BAD HERE>

if it shows failing it is bad.

if not the DELL LIED to you,(bad BIOS or?)

I suspect heat or the drives are faulty but, no facts told at all just the word SMART.

if you were wise , you would lean to run real SMART apps, and see the hours on the HDD,

24/7 at 4 years is  34000 hours what are yours???,(many drives keep cool can run out to 2 times that.

find a drive bad and post the SMART status page, then  I can talk (me)

we have stats on hdd, vast,  life spans, many in fact fail at 44,000 hours, but if you had enterpise grade drives this can be far better. or if SSD, better still.

where are these PCs, in clean room or in dusty lint filled room, worse is rugs,  I've no idea at all where they are

nor of you ever  clean the PCs out. (it must run cool or all parts will have a shorter life span)
