Over the last 2 weeks, I've come in to find our PowerEdge 700 constantly beeping (no pattern, just a consistent beep about every 1-2 seconds or so). If I shut it completely down and power back up, everything is fine for a few days, but then I will hear the beeping one morning upon arrival.
I have checked during POST and the RAID array states it is optimal and I see no other messages indicating anything out of the ordinary during boot.
Any idea as to what may be happening?
FYI, below is the config of the system:
1
8R198
Assembly, Cable, 40P, Integrated Drive Electronics, 2 Drop, 18 inch
I would second that ... many drivers may make similar sounds.
Also ... make sure it is actually coming from the server, as UPS units can do it too.
Your system details show a CERC controller, which has a solid, high-pitch tone as its alarm. I know you said you checked CTRL-A and/or OMSA and it showed as Optimal, so I doubt it is the controller ... just as a heads up as to what kind of alarm you would hear if it were related to the CERC storage.

I'll try that the next time it happens! Anyone else have any other ideas?
