RAID Mirror

Hi All,
I have PE2850 server having RAID configured. If i go to my computer i can see duplicate drives.it means my mirror has been broken.I would like to know the possible ways to correct the drives. If i need to recreate mirror how to do that.

    Hello Manish,

It may help if you give a little more info regarding your config etc.
Are you using software mirroring etc ?

If you can see two drives in Windows' Disk Management and you are sure you have setup a hardware based RAID then it means that a RAID 1 was not created. You will need to create a RAID 1 if that is what you need. Please be advised that since the configuration of your system is uncertain, this could be a data destructive process. See here: RAID Configuration and Management.

If there was a hardware based RAID 1 on the internal controller on the server listed, then the controller will only pass the logical drive off the to the OS. As far as the OS knows, there is only one drive in the system. If there is a drive failure on this controller in a RAID 1, Windows will not be alerted unless you have OpenManage installed and there still will only be one drive reported.

    Hi,
Thanks for the update,I am planning to create RAID1.since the mirror was broken and RAID1 was not enabled in bios.so the only option is to recreate mirror.if i select RAID1 in bios setup i get the message that data may be lose. Please tell me the proactive measurement that need to take before eanbling RAID 1.I normaly take data backup through Omnibackup. If i take backup whether i would be able to restore the system state data please advice...Please tell me the right approch to do that.

From what it sounds like, yes typically you would want to backup, create the RAID 1, reinstall the OS and then restore from backup.
