Rebuild Raid Array with SSD

This may be a newb question, but I've never actually done this and I was wondering if anybody had any experience doing this. I currently have a poweredge R610 Server with the OS on a 2 Drive / Raid 1 Config and Data on a 3 Drive Raid 5 Config. I would like to be able to replace the standard 2.5 inch 7.2K platter drives with 500 GB SSD Drives. Can I do a normal remove / re silver the platter drives with SSD's or will this require me to completely reformat the server and rebuild with the new drives. I would like to be able to keep all data and apps exactly like they are.

Thanks

    Hello

None of our controllers support drive type mixing within a virtual disk.

You will need to delete and recreate the virtual disk. If you want to retain the data then I suggest you perform some type of backup. You cannot mix SSD and spindle disks within a virtual disk, so you cannot replace the current disks with SSDs. The controller will not see the SSDs as valid members  for the virtual disk.

    Thanks
