    You can add 2x8GB now (slots 1 and 2) and 2x8GB later (slots 3 and 4). You need Quad-Rank (4R) RDIMM's.

Be sure to update your BIOS (and other system firmware like ESM/BMC) first.

Before you make that purchase, you need to ensure that your Processor supports RDimms. Only the Xeon Processors on the T310 support RDimms, otherwise you will be relegated to Udimms.  Post your Processor spec's and I will let you know.

Do you have hot-swappable drives? Do you see the light on one of the drives? Which one? If you don't have hot-swappable drives, where exactly is the light - there doesn't appear to be anything in the area you described. Can you attach a picture?

Sorry for the late reply. Yes the XEON processor support RDIMMS. You can do 4 x4GB Dimms inserting 2 Dimms per channel - populate slots Channel A - 1,3 and Channel B - 2,4.

Thanks for the response.   Yesterday I ordered 2 8gb RDIMM cards that should go into slots 1&2.  I went for this configuration to enable the upgrade to 32gb in the future, if needed.  Can you advise me on any BIOS updates that should be done for best performance.  Thanks  Bill atML
