T410 power issues

hi all im having an intresting power issue with my T410, I havent gotten it to its perminate home yet as i am still working on it so i frequently unplug it after shutting down and when i plug it back in i have to hold the grey button on the power supply in for a few minutes while pressing the front power button is this normal operation or do i have a fault somewhere?

    I am not sure which Grey button on Power Supply you are referring here? Can you share a picture of same? This does not look like a normal behavior. Are you unplugging the power cable after complete shutdown of the server?

     ok so it's a black button but yes after complete shut down I unplug the server to move it and then when I plug it back in I have to hold this button on the back to turn it on.

    That is power supply test switch. Ideally there is no need to press this for powering on the server. There could be some issue with the power supply causing this issue. Did you have latest BIOS installed on the server?

    I'm honestly not sure I will have to check someone mentioned in another thread about a power supply update could it

    You have a cabled Power supply. PSU firmware update is not supported for cabled power supply.
