SAS Failed

I've been trying for hours to get these new SAS drives installed on my poweredge 2950, the board clearly supports SAS but each time I go into raid manager it says SAS failed for each of the 4 drives I put in, I tried updating the bios but it said I already had the proper one installed. I used this update-https://dl.dell.com/SAS-RAID/FRMW_WIN_R169302.EXE

The page for that update suggests it allows SAS drives but it didn't work for me and its not allowing me to make them a global hs even, all of the options are greyed out.

please help and thank you in advance.

Did you try updating the controller?

Would that be different from updating the controller bios?

I'm trying to find docs that say so, but I thought the 2950 only support 2TB drives max. Which storage controller mode is in your system?
