I am having the same problem. I have even gone as far as taking an old PERC 3/DC from another system, downloading the proper drivers, and then booting using the NT 4.0 disk. I hit F6, use the floppy with the PERC 3 NT 4.0 drivers. It appears to work, and then reboots itself. The "quick screen" I see when the system crashes has the exact same look as when you try to boot using the DELL SERVER ASSISTANT 7.5 and 7.1 CD's.

The 8.x SERVER ASSISTANT CD's work, but they now use a LINUX BOOT LOADER, The old CD's used a NT boot loader.....I have a feeling the 2 are related....

 

My problem is the exact same, when it loads the CD ROM FILE SYSTEM is when it cycles.

NT 4.0 was not tested or validated on the PowerEdge 750, but I do understand your problem. I have 2 suggestions which "may" work (but I would not hold my breath). If the problem is solely with the CDrom, you might have success. If the problem is with an incompatibility with the Intel E7210 chipset, (Canterwood ES), the chances of a successful install are very slim.

If you are using the SATA drives - forget it. NT 4.0 will never recognise the controller and there will probably never be any drivers developed.

1. Use F6 to load the Scsi drivers (from floppy) and the ATAPI IDE drivers from the NT 4.0 list (you have to scroll way up the list).

2. Try this download to make bootable floppy with IDE drivers for the CDrom. Copy all the /i386 folder from the NT 4.0 CD to the hard drive and run WINNT.exe from the hard drive. Use F6 to load the Scsi drivers (from floppy) and the ATAPI IDE drivers from the NT 4.0 list.
