Seagate DDS4 TBUs support DDS4 max. I do not recall Dell selling DDS5 drives, but someone could have installed one. The Archive python id string is reported as a backward compatible feature on Seagate TBUs.

Did you find out if you can use bigger tapes? If so,
how much bigger?
