CPU upgrade T5600

I have a T5600.  It has 2 E5-2620 processors.  I want to upgrade them.  I purchased 2 refurbished E5-2687W V2 and when I power on the computer the monitor stays black.  Are the CPUs bad? Do I need a larger power supply for these CPUs to work? Help!!!!

    Hello,

Which CPUs require which heat sinks?  You mentioned "9YYVV - low end, 1TD00 - high end" in your post.  I'm considering a CPU upgrade but I'd like to know which heat sinks work with which CPUs.

    Thanks in advance,

    Rob

ladies and gents i hate to burst your bubble but the t5600 can only handle 8 cores

anything above that the pc goes into idle mode. the t5610 on the otherhand can install the e5-2687w v2 but you will need the 825 psu if you choose to do anything graphic with it

sorry to burst your bubble fellas but the t5600 only accepts 8 cores and 20mb cache.

many have tried and none have lived to tell the tale of victory .

Im haveing the same problem. Following a CPU upgrade attempt on a Dell Precision T5600 server, from two Xeon E5 2620 v0 to two Xeon E5 2620 v2 processors, the system remains unresponsive with a black screen. BIOS has been updated to A19. Is this CPU upgrade compatible, and what troubleshooting steps should be taken?
