Precision T3620 + Intel XMP?
Dell just updated the BIOS for my workstation and we _still_ do not have Intel XMP support.
My Intel Core i7-7700K CPU supports XMP and profiles up to 4266 MHz RAM frequency, but the workstation seems to be hard-coded to stop at 2400 MHz (and that's actually fine).
The problem is that I just upgraded the RAM - OEM RAM was DDR4 (CL17 @ 2400 MHz), new RAM is HyperX Predator (CL12 @ 2400 MHz) - and even with the updated BIOS (2.12.0, released 2019-03-20), Chipset, etc I'm still relegated to running the new RAM at CL17 (CAS Latency)!?
According to CPU-Z, SPD tab, the new RAM supports both JEDEC #7 (CL16 @ 1163 MHz), JEDEC #8 (CL17 @ 1200 MHz), JEDEC #9 (CL18 @ 1200 MHz) and XMP-2400 (CL12 @ 1200 MHz) profiles - remember, this is DDR, so double those frequencies - so, why is Dell relegating me to the CL17 profile?
Even at CL17, the new RAM is +2% faster than the Dell OEM RAM, but nowhere as fast as it should be if allowed to run the XMP profile @ CL12 (same frequency), which the RAM inherently supports.
I'm just really unimpressed with Dell at this point - if they elect to NOT support XMP soon, I'm not sure they deserve our business when it comes time to replace these workstations.
