Cap battery upper charging limit to 80%
Hi,
I have a m6800, bought a new battery recently and trying to cap the upper charging limit to 80% to preserve battery capacity, I learned that the option is available in Dell Power Manager software. I installed the app but can't find the option.
Can anyone help me with that issue?

I tried downloading Dell Command Power Manager, In the battery settings I don't have the "Custom mode" option, I only have standard and Express charge.
I don't know how to get "Custom mode".

Your pictures are not visible to me yet, I get this problem many times. I guess your pictures are not the same as in the Guide and Custom mode option is not there.
Go to BIOS settings and look under power to see if you have Primarily AC Use, enable or select that option. It works the same way to extend/prolong battery health.

You may want to check if you have the latest BIOS. I found the manual listing all options available for the primary battery.

I have the latest BIOS version installed
Version: A26, Release date: December 2019
I don't know why the other options are not showing up.

Well, just manage with what you can. Here are my suggestions:
- Avoid a complete discharge of battery
- Don't use Express charge mode (heat)
- Use AC power for heavy usage apps (heat)
Express charge or fast discharge will create excessive heat, shorten battery life.

I figured out why the options are not showing. The reason for that is the new battery. I attached the old battery, opened the BIOS, and all the options are now available.
Not sure why the new battery does not show the options.
One possible reason is the different model number ( FV993 for the new battery vs FJJ4W for the old original one).
The other possibility is that the new battery may not be genuine ( I think DELL no longer produces these battaries, and sellers will just label them as genuine ).
Not sure if there is another explanation, if someone have good knowledge about this please comment.
I hope this post may be helpfull to someone.

Custom mode allows user to select when the battery starts and stops charging.
