924 persistent low ink message and blinking error light

After replacing the black ink cartridge, I still get the low ink message. On the printer the display insists that the black ink is low and the error light is blinking.
Does anyone kwnow a way to get things back to normal?
Is this situation likely to alter printing results?
Is it possible to reset the printer?

Where did you buy your ink cart? When you buy a new ink cart from Dell the printer resets automatically when you put in the ink cart. When you buy an ink cart from any other source the printer will not reset itself and it can not be done manually. Normally this does not affect printing.

    Hi! Thanks for your comment.
I didn't get the ink cart from Dell so I suppose I'll have to reset manually. Can you tell me how? I haven't seen (probably missed it) anything in the documentation.

Refilling Dell ink cartridges is a very effective way to reduce Dell's high cost of ink cartridges. I successfully refill cartridges many times before the nozzles clog up or they go bad for whatever other reason. I resent Dell's refusal to provide a way to reset the ink level indicator.
