I wanted this printer for two things. The abibility to print from anywhere in my house via my laptop, wirelessly... and the scanner. As we all know, who've tried to scan, the most comprehensive scanning comes from the All in One center where you have to be physically connected to the printer. This if great, but when I unplug and take my laptop to another room and want to print, there's suddenly no wireless connection to the printer. Can anyone tell me a way to set my printer settings so that it'll do both things without having to reinstall my printer every time, or shut off my printer and turn it on again?
Disconnect your printer. Make a System Restore point. Download and run Windows Installer CleanUp Utility. It will remove the printer completely from your computer. Restart your computer.
Fix your wireless router first.
Download the latest firmware. Make and model needed, manufacturers website.
Broadcasdt SSID(Change this, it will make it easier to connect)
Use WPA-PSK(TKIP) Security(most devices work best with this type of security)
Mixed b and g mode(n if available)
Channels 1, 6 or 11. (Most wireless devices work best on these channels.)
Save and exit. Power everything off for 30 seconds, then turn everything back on. Try and connect.
Now for the printer.
Now go to drivers and downloads/select product/printers/select your printer. Download drivers
I also forgot to mention. I have a 964 and use a 3300 to connect. Sometimes I want to go from wireless to USB. What I did was, I renamed the wireless printer and added the name wireless to my laptop. I then, if I remember correctly, connected the USB cable with the printer attached. It installed the correct drivers. So then instead on re-installing the printer each time, go to printers and faxes and change the default printer when you switch.

First I'd try this.

Read this article before installing the drivers.
Scanning
Scanning using USB connection, open the Dell All-In-One Center, click on scanning and copying and scan from there.
Scanning wirelessly, use the scan buttons on the printer.
