C1760nw Has 009-654 Error

Printer is 14 days outside of warranty!

Printer was working earlier but the output looked like it was missing the cyan colour.  The "Status Window" showed plenty of toner all round.

I switched off and on.  It went through its diagnostics then it came up "Ready to print" for a couple of seconds, then I could hear a small click and the error message appeared.

I searched online for the solution.  This is what I tried:

I looked behind the back cover to clean some sensors but could not identify where they were!

Changed every cartridge.

Completely powered off for a couple of hours.

Anyone any ideas?  I have loads of toner so I am loathe to ditch the printer.

Cheers,

Henry

    . Dotdotuk,

The error code shows that there is an issue with the printer ADC sensor. If you have already restarted printer multiple times and the error remains then you can try cleaning the ADC sensor which might fix it.

Please ensure that the printer is turned off.

Please lower the back panel cover of the printer.

You should see two small sensors that look like LED.

Take a lint cloth and soft tissue and clean it.

    Close the door.

Power it back on and check if the error remains.

If the error remains then the printer needs replacement as the sensors are faulty.

The information below was posted by another user and you may want to try what they suggest.

I downloaded/installed the usb driver for the printer and connected the printer to a usb port on my computer. I downloaded the latest firmware driver. I started the printer with a toner cartridge removed. I ran the Dell firmware upgrade program and it recognized that the printer was connected and loaded the firmware. When the firmware installation completed, I restarted the printer and everything is working again.

This solution may work on all other Dell printers that experienced the same error.

    dotdotuk,

I was referring to the Operator Panel Buttons LED.

    Hi Jesse,

Thanks for the reply.  I cannot see anything that might be considered LEDs.  Are you able to point me towards the correct area?  I have attached a photo.

I have tried installing the latest firmware I could find  "C1760nw_FW_201306031015_05-03-00.zip"

    Cheers,

    Henry

Sorry Jesse I don't understand!  In your post you said to lower the back cover and clean the sensors that look like LEDs. I could not see anything that looked like the sensors.  In your latest reply you say the operator panel LEDs which are on the top at the front.
