Dell 3115cn scan driver issue

Has anyone had issues installing the scan drivers?  I have installed them over and over again and have even had someone remotely (thru dell) uinstall and reinstall the drivers. They were unsuccessful as well.  Every time when the scan manager/scan button appears on screen and it is chosen, it tells us scan drivers were not installed  - the same with the paper pro (sorry can't remember the name) program.  It will not find the printer which is connected to the computer (XP all in one with vista) via usb and ethernet.

Additionally, when I try to access the wireless net via the admin menu on the printer itself, I cannot find wireless net, just wired, parallel and usb.  Any suggestions there? Additionally, the printer does not show up when connected via usb (I have tried an old usb and bought a new one).  Is this a hardware issue that results in the drivers not being found?

Thanks in advance as this is very frustrating with this printer being fresh out of the box and dell tech support being unable to successfully help me.

Thanks for the reply, however we have done all that you say at least three times, and dell has tried it once.....just wondering if there were some other glitch.  It just does not find the scan drivers althought they have been installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled repeatedly.

We are actually waiting for a replacement for dell....was looking for some tips for when it arrived.

Also curious as to why on admin on the printer wireless settings cannot be located.

Most people that are hainvg scanning issues have tried this and it solved their scanning issues.

How are you connected to the printer? wired of wireless?

If wired, disconnect your printer. Go to start/programs/Dell printers and un-install your printer.

    Restart your computer.

Now go to drivers and downloads/select product/printers/select your printer.

Install your printer. You'll be prompted when to connect it.

If wireless, fix your network first.

Update the firmware in your wireless router. Manufacturer's website, make & Model needed.

Broadcast SSID(You may want to change this to make it easier to connect)

    Use WPA security

After router is done, now setup your wireless print server/printer.

If wireless printer server is used, Plug USB cable into computer and print server. Insert the print server disk. Choose Network, then choose print server and follow the instructions.

    Now setup the printer.

Now go to drivers and downloads/select product/printers/select your printer.

Install your printer. Choose Network. Install the drivers.

    Everything should now work.

I had the same issue, it was due to a previous camera installation. My only cure was to reinstall the operating system. Works great now.

I discovered this when using the troubleshooting tool.  Hopefully it helps.

    Additional Information
    1. From the 3115cn operator panel, press the  (down arrow) button until Scan is indicated, then press the  (Select) button.

    2. Press the  (down arrow) button until Scan to Network is displayed, then press the  or  (left or right arrow) button to select Server or Computer, then press the  (Select) button.

    3. In the registered name list, press the  or  (up or down arrow) button to indicate the selection, then press the  (Select) button to confirm the selection.

    4. Press the Start button to begin the scan and send the file to the designated share or path on your network.

Note:     This unit only supports PUSH network scanning. This means that scanning operations may only be initiated from the printer control panel, not the computer or server. This restriction does not apply to printers connected using USB or parallel cables.
