I have a Dell 926 All In One Inkjet Printer installed on my computer. I have downloaded the file Dell Photo All-in-One Printer 926, v.G5, A00 and run it. It is nothing but a clean uninstaller for windows XP. Nothing to do with updated software or vista drivers.
I have also downloaded and installed the Dell Photo All-in-One Printer 926, A01 R153976.exe file which did have drivers in that file. I installed the drivers and everything worked fine. My computer asked for a restart which I did and do every time I install new device drivers.
When I right click My Computer and go to the Device Manager there is 2 places where my printer is showing up.
Under the Printer Tab it shows: Dell Photo AIO Printer 926
Under the Imaging Devices it shows: Dell Photo AIO Printer 926
When I go to the Control Panel / Printers there is nothing showing up and if I click Add Printer I get the message: Windows can't open add printer. The local print spooler service is not running. Please restart the spooler or restart the machine.
If I click on the Dell All-In-One Center program in the start menu the first thing that pops up is a box saying: The Dell Photo AIO Printer 926 printer driver is not installed. Please reinstall your printer driver.
When I do it works fine until I restart my computer or when I start it back up after I have shut it down for the night.
I have run a complete and thorough virus scan on my computer as well as an adware and malware scan. Both of them came back 100% clean. Also I keep my system defragmented at least once per week and clean out my temp folder, cookies, history and temporary internet files folder every week.
Can someone help me with this issue and direct me to updated drivers which work and are compatible with my system?
Thank You
