Dell V505 printer documents disappear from queue don't print

My Dell V505 printer will not print any documents. It began not printing emails only, but now will not print Word documents or PDF documents. I have uninstalled the printer and reinstalled it and reinstalled Windows 7 drivers. My computer is an HP touchscreen and the Dell worked with it until a couple of months ago. At that time, it would still print Word documents but nothing from the Internet. I thought maybe I had a virus so I installed Norton last week. My husband was able to print one Word document this morning but not another. The printer is recognized and status is "ready." Documents spool and show up in the print queue as pending but then they suddenly disappear and nothing prints.

    joni4122,

Try running Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs from the queue, then restart your computer.

Open the document, click on file, print and make sure the proper printer is selected.

    What happens?

The printer lights up like it is communicating with the computer and the printer icon appears in the tray but it says 0 documents pending. However, I received a coupon in an email and when I clicked on it, the coupon opened in a separate page. The printer printed the coupon but will not print the email it came from. Same thing, 0 documents pending but the icon appears.

    joni4122,

Start, control panel, devices and pritners. Make sure your printer is set for default.

    Is your printer listed there?

Some virus programs and other malware programs will remove some coupon printing devices.

Yes, the printer is listed and a green check mark for default. I had read that some malware would stop the printer from printing, that's why I got the new version of Norton and installed it. The printer DID print the coupon, however it doesn't print emails when you click on the printer icon on the email page. For the record, it used to do this with no problem. It also used to print any Word documents or other files located on the computer and not the Internet but now it will not print Word documents either. When I select a Word document to print and click "Print" the printer "comes alive" and sounds ready to print but never does. The printer icon in the tray still says 0 documents pending.

Followed the directions. Restarted my computer. Same result. 0 documents pending. Tried printing different types of files, ie, coupons, Word, PDF, etc. No go. I know that before it quit printing altogether it would spool to print queue and sit there for anywhere from 5 - 15 minutes before printing. Sometimes the documents wouldn't print until I restarted the computer.

    joni4122,

Reinstall the printer following the instructions.

First run Delete Print Jobs to remove any stuck print jobs from the queue.

Start, control panel, programs and features, Dell V505 printer uninstall.

Restart your computer. Make sure the printer was removed. Manual Printer Driver Removal

With the computer online, insert the Dell V505 printer disk and folow the instructions.

Next time you print from Word, Adobe Reader, etc..., click on file, print and make sure the proper printer is selected.

    Allow a printer past Norton

I've done all this. I also completely turned off the firewall in Norton for a time. The printer will occasionally print a Word document, but not every one. It will still not print from email. The icon still appear and 0 documents pending. Some Word files seem to spool to printer and the print icon will show 1 document pending but then it just disappears as if it thinks it already printed. Status says "printing." Other files spool to the printer then print about 5 minutes later or when the computer restarts. Should I just get a new printer? Is it hopeless?

Rick, the second screen shot already matches, but in the first one, there is no printer port labeled with my printer name like that one, ie, V505. I have LPT 1, 2 and 3 ports, COM 1,2,3 and 4, FILE, Virtual port, XPS local and Fax.

    joni4122,

Start, control panel, devices and printers, right click on your printer, left click printer properties, ports

    Have your settings match mine...

Click on advanced, then have your settings match mine...
