Laser 1110 Does not print landscape after MS updates
I last week ran the Microsoft Updates and now my computers will not print in landscape mode. I have one computer that did not get updated and it prints fine in landscape mode but the others do not. My accounting department is MAD because they cannot print out their huge spreadsheets. Any suggestions to fix this problem?
Unfortunately, there is no way to uninstall the update from Microsoft. I have tried. I have gone through the software install/uninstall and uninstalled all of the updates and it does not take of the problem. Is there any other option to fix this short of reinstalling Windows? I do not want to do this as I would have to do this on 9 computers. I also have done the system restore and the problem still does not go away.

Here's what I suggest, on 1 system do a system restore to remove the updates. Then go out to MS's web site and do the updates individually or in small groups. When the problem with the landscape returns then un-install that 1 update. Then you can go to the other systems and remove that 1 update. Please let me know which update it was so that I can escalate the issue.
You can do a system restore and that should remove the updates. I'd choose a date to when you know it was working correctly. Then try to print and see if it prints correctly. If it does then you also should be able to go in to Add/Remove programs and find the MS Software - Updates and choose the one that applies. It typically is a KB with a number after. I'm surprised if you can't get them to uninstall. Again on one system I'd do a system restore then do the custom update with Windows this will allow you to choose which updates are loaded. If you've done this and the problem remains then it may be something more.
Here's what the updates look like in Add/Remove programs.
I am having this same problem. I am using Vista Ultimate and Office 2007. I have also tested on an XPSP2 with Office 2003 and have gotten the same results. What I have tried is the following: New server to host the printer (was using a wireless print server, now using a Windows 2003 server) Installed latest drivers on the server (downloaded today) Removed the following updates from the Vista PC: KB 929762,929735,928089, 929399, 932246,931537, 931099,905866,936824, 905866, 932080, 934393 (there were 2 others that I forgot to write down, but they were from the 4/15/07 and 5/8/07 update period). The only updates left installed, are security updates as I do not feel comfortable making my PC more vulnerable in order to get a printer to work. I have tested using the same excel file that is set up in landscape. Each time it opens correctly, and is set to landscape view. When going to print preview, the orientation is set to landscape, but the display and output are portrait. Even if I try to set the properties of the printer to use landscape, after I click apply and OK, if I go back they are set back to portrait. I have also tested this using 2 different printers (a canon and lexmark) both of those printers printed the document with no issues. I have also seen this problem with word documents in 2007 and 2003. Please advise as this issue is making the printer less and less usable. Thanks!
Based upon the many posts on this problem, I feel confident there is a bug here.. What are Dell's plans to fix this? Not being able to print landscap on my 1110 is very annoying.
I ran into this problem yesterday after I did a MS Update and chose the Dell Printer update. I then spent a couple of hours trying to get Landscape printing to work again. This morning it is working (only tested in Excel 2003 so far). I'm not sure which action worked but this is what I did:
1) Went to the Dell sight and downloaded the driver from there. (I'm using XP SP2). It's a huge file!
2) Ran the installation file.
3) Rebooted - still no landscape mode :(
4) Went through every Property and Preference looking for something "odd"
5) Removed the "Share this Printer"
6) Set the "Toner Save Mode" in Printer Defaults to OFF (neither option had been set)
7) Rebooted - still no landscape mode :( :(
8) Turned off the computer again and went home
9) The moon phase changed to Last Quarter
10) Turned on the computer and now it is working
I had turned both the computer and the printer on and off a couple of times throughout this process so I was quite surprised it worked this morning. I'm NOT going to install the MS Update.
We are having a similiar problem. I have over 60 of these printers being rolled out across my organization. I'm concerned that there is no resolution for this problem. Can we identify if the problem is with Dell or with the Microsoft update drivers.
