Yes I need one too. I really don't want to have to buy a printer just to run Linux. If I can't get one I will have to buy a new printer and no offense to Dell(which has been great in all aspects except this one) but I will not be buying it from Dell. It's just that I can't condone this lack of Linux support anymore. Linux is a terrific operating system and I know that Microsoft basically bullies everyone into using Windows but the driver support needs to be there. Especially when Dell sells computers with Red Hat. Do they tell there customers they can't have an A940 printer because it won't run in Linux? Windows is getting consistently worse and Longhorns MINIMUM system requirements are sure to be at least double what they are for XP. I emailed support before and after I gave them the printer service tag number they stopped replying. Please help. Maybe I should just learn how to write drivers=)
Dell printers appear to be re-badged Lexmark. The A940 is really a Lexmark Z55 so they are the ones to blame for no drivers. To be safe, stick with HP printers and scanners. HP keep Linux up to date with drivers for all their current peripherals.
