I am having two problems with my wireless AIO 966 printer.
1. I have a laptop (Acer Aspire 8920, T9300 2.5 GHz Intel core Duo, 4 GB RAM, 320 GB HD) running 64 bit Windows Vista Ultimate and I cannot get the printer driver and software to install on the computer. I am running Norton 2008 for AV, and disable it before I attempt to install and it does not work. I downloaded the Web64966e.exe from here
<ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>
and it did not work. I tried uninstalling and re-installing multiple times with reboots in between.
2. Second issue is that I just got a new wireless router - 54Mbps Wireless G Broadband Router / TEW-432BRP. I upgraded to the most recent firmware verison. It is working fine with 3 wireless laptops (1 Vista Home, 1 Vista Ultimate, 1 XP Pro), a wireless desktop (XP Home), and two 2 NAS devices. I use MAC filtering and WPA encryption, and SSID enabled.
When I disable the WPA encryption, the AIO 966 works fine with the MAC filtering. But it seems to not be able to handle the WPA encryption. I've updated the printer firmware with the latest on the support site.
I really dislike that I have to run the setup CD to try to configure the wireless settings.
Anyway, it seems the WPA encryption is what is causing it to not work, even though I went through the setup many times.
I spent 5 hours trying to fix it, even removing the wireless card on the printer, bring my wireless network up and down, chaning the password to something easier (no special characters), to no avail. It only works with no WPA encryption, and that is not an option for me.
WPA Security is strong enough. Using Mac Filtering just conflicts with the WPA Security. Get rid of the Mac Filtering.
Now to install the printer for you. Windows Vista 64-bit instructions.
I can speak a lot for Vista 64-bit, so please bear with me. I usually have the owner run the Vista 32-bit patch(works with XP 32-bit systems, also) to remove the priter completely from their computer. I don't know if it will work with the Vista 64-bit system. If this doesn't work, then try the normal un-installation using the control panel.
Restart your computer afte you un-install it. You already downloaded the Vista 64-bit drivers for the 966,

Since there is much to do, then I recommend you follow the instructions in the article.
Thanks for the recommendation on updaing the utility....this was the driver for the wireless networking card.
One thing that might help other people is that since I couldn't get the printer connected to the wireless network, I plugged it into my router so that it got onto my network and I could run the utilities to update the firmware for the wireless card.
I am convinced that the wireless card in the printer was not working correctly with the old firmware, as when it was updated, the WPA encryption was not a problem (and I still have the MAC filtering on). The WPA and MAC filtering work in conjunction to provide a more secure network. A layered defense is best.
The only problem I am still having is installing the AIO 966 driver - Printers: Dell Photo All-in-One Printer 966, Driver, Windows Vista 64-bit, Windows XP x64, English, Printer Dell Photo All-in-One Printer 966, v.G16-EN-x64, A02 at this link. This is on the VISTA Ultimate 64 bit.
When I try to install it, it always freezes on the screen of creating a PIN for scanner. When the program finally crashes, I get the following error:
Description: A problem caused this program to stop interacting with Windows.

I still say that Mac filtering fights with WPA Security. Go here and ask the question. Steve will answer the question ablout Mac Filtering and WPA Security. I tried it and had all sorts of trouble connecting with everything. I ONLY use WPA-PSK(TKIP) Security.
You followed the setup instructions for the 966 printer. If you click on 966, look below it. You'll see Operating systems. Click on Vista. Click on show all steps. It walks you through the setup process for your printer. It then tell you how to install the drivers for the 966.
You may have to turn off your Firewall.
You may also have to turn off your Virus protection.

I beg to differ about the WPA-PSK(TKIP) Security.
