DELAY OPENNING OFFICE FILES FROM SHORTCUT

When I try to open excell or office files through a shortcut on my desktop,
I have a +/- 15 seconds delay before the file actually opens.
Why is this happening and what can be done?

Thank you

Sincerely,
Arturo Meneses

If you're running Norton, it's doing a check for viruses, look at bottom left corner and see the message.

    Dear sir,
Actually , I tried dissabling my AV software and still the problem is there. The annoying delay I refer to persists.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Arturo

I am not sure that disabling Norton active monitoring would disable the virus scan it does for Office apps. Instead, try, in NAV, options, Miscellaneous, uncheck enable office plugin, click OK. That definitely stops the scan each time you open an office document..

I forgot to mention that I don't have Norton AV installed, I use Zone Alarm Security Suite and I can't find any setting that refers to scanning word files.

If you open MS Word from the Start/All Programs, do you get the delay there?  If not then there is a problem with the shortcut that you've created and in that case try creating a new one and see if that fixes it.

    Dear sir:
No problem from the start all programs.
I also erased and re-created the shortcuts but the problem persists.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks
    Arturo
