Dell Support 3/does 2.x exist?

Dell Support just informed me that there is no such thing as Dell Support 2.x.  I was going to try to download Dell Support 3.  I tried to log onto support but it said my password and e-mail weren't correct.  The tech said I'd have to purchase one of 3 plans in order to get software support.  He also said something something to the effect that having 2.x on my system would eventually corrupt my files.  I don't understand what's going on with this thing.  Have I fallen victim to someone's "phishing" expedition?

Bobba65," No you have not fallen victim to someones phishing expedition." I think Dell Support was incorrect in telling you Dell Support 2.x does not exist. I looked last nite at Dells download page and it was there under applications. I am thinking of installing it Back on my computer. I plugged in my service tag on my Dim and it lists it. When I put my in my service tag on my latitude it does not list Dell Support 2.x . I don't think latitude supports 2.x .

I can tell you that so far Dell Support 3.0 has told me that I needed a driver for my cd burner . that I downloaded and installed . It is still on my desktop and no where else . Also it said I needed a video driver a few days ago , that I did not install thankfully after reading some of the posts here on the forum . It also says my startup folder has some files that are starting up with no application, I am leary of letting it fix it because it does not list what files it wants to delete. This just my experience with Dell Support 3.0
