I have a Dell XPS M1730 notebook and am running Windows Vista with Office 2007. I have been having a few teething problems getting a few programs to work properly.
1. When I run Excel it gives the message:
Runtime error '1004'
Unable to get the RTD property of the WorkSheet function class
What does this mean and how do I fix it?
2. I have a program called CommSec Professional Trader which won't run on this computer:
Failed to start application, please check your network connection
I have checked my Firewall settings in Norton and but have not set the program to Run as Administrator because I'm not given the option. Does anyone have a clue what the problem is? I also have another program (an add-on to a game that won't run), both of these programs worked well on my old desktop.
3. My DVD drive seems to have a mind of its own and sporadically starts reving up, additionally, sometimes it wont rev up when it is supposed to. I had my dual graphics cards replaced a couple of weeks ago but I won't go into that.
Cheers in advance if anyone can provide some assistance.
Is there a DVD or CD in the drive when it becomes active? That may be normal, as some utilities will check drive access occasionally.
Regarding the Trader program, click <<

Personally, I find Norton very difficult to access and change any firewall settings. Either Dell or Symantec Tech Support might help.
Apparently this PC is not very old, so issues like the DVD problem should be addressed to Dell Tech Support.
