Outlook 2007

My outlook will not retain the settings that I make, e.g. No reading pane, no grouping. When I say no to these options it works until I go to another folder in Outlook then go back to Inbox and there they are again. I don't have this trouble with Outlook 2003 on another computer. I have even gone to every folder and turned these off but they just keep coming back. I am not comfortable with doing anything to the registry and I don't know how. Any ideas? I am new to the forum.

    Exit Outlook

Locate the outcmd.dat file. It is usually in the

    C:\Users\

which you can usually get to by pressing the Windows Key and R then type

    %userprofile%\appdata\roaming\microsoft\outlook

Rename the outcmd.dat file, then restart Outlook. Problem gone?

Thank you. I tried it twice and it didn't work. They still keep coming back.

If you are familiar with editing the registry, go to the following key and delete it. Then restart Outlook.

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Outlook\Options

Thanks but I think I found something and it has worked. I went to View, Current View, Define Views, Other Settings. I then modified each view name to remove the reading pane. It has worked so far even quitting and restarting outlook. I did as you suggested twice and deleted the renamed file, maybe this helped also.

    So far so good.
