dust blobs on 3300MP image

Does anyone one how to get rid of small spherical dust blobs on projected image, they are very noticable in dark scenes or blank-black screen? I have about 10 or so blobs on the image and my prjector is only 5 months old

On white screen or bright colorful projected image, they dont show up,  but on darker screen they are all over the image.

I have the same problem and posted it about 2 months ago. It's very distracting to say the least.

I tried blowing it out with an air compressor, but it did very little. I have not seen any similar complaints about other projector models. I am not happy with Dell ignoring this problem. Dell should try to come up with a solution and tell us how to deal with this problem. Sure, if we clean it out it will come back, and then we clean it again. I removed the lamp to see if there was better access to the inside, but it didn't help at all. Next I may take off the cover. I don't care about the warranty anymore, I just want the best picture possible. If Dell wants to sell me anything else, they will have to show more willingness to deal with customer problems. Chris M please help us.

Our people are checking to see if there is any additional cleaning methods that can be attempted. I am going to go ahead and assume that cleaning is the only viable fix right now, and that the environment that the projector resides in has a direct bearing on how fast the issue would come back.

Thank you Chris. I am looking forward to some help on this problem. The room that my projector is in is not really that dusty. Very little dust builds up on the furniture. I also have an air purifier running all the time. I think the cooling fan draws in dust and over time it builds up behind the lens. I think if the lens would unscrew there would be access to the dust. Of course I realize that probably is not the case.

Thanks again for addressing this problem

Ok. Remove the 4 screws holding the lamp assembly in. Remove the assembly. Use compressed air on the external intake fan, the internal fan areas. Use a soft cloth on the internal lense.

I am having the same problem with my 3200MP.  The picture is absolutely unbearable, except during a very bright picture.  The picture is absolutely unacceptable.  I have taken the bulb out and cleaned it with compressed air.  I have dusted the lense with a clean cloth...but the problem still exists and my cleaning efforts have not done anything to the dust INSIDE the projector.

Dell Support - Can I (we) send our projectors in to get cleaned?  My projector is still under warranty so I would assume that this type of cleaning/work is covered.

From reading this forum, it seems that this is a significant problem that needs to be addressed.  The room I have the projector in is no more or no less dustier than any other room I have ever been in.

    Thanks.

I also like the idea of dell  cleaning it by sending  a techinian to clean it, as I cant get those dust blobs go away( Now I am confused Are they really dust blobs or stuck DLP mirrors something similar to Dead pixels on LCD)

It's definitely dust.  I contacted Dell and since my projector is still under warranty, they are going to send me a new projector for replacement.  That said, I hope it is a *new* projector and not a refurbished projector.  If it is a refurb'ed machine, I will not accept it and send it back.

If your projector is still under warranty, I would contact Dell Support.  So far they have been very helpful and I am very surprised at their quick and acceptable response.  I sent an email in to them on Friday and I had 2 responses from them by Saturday and the second response stated they were sending me a new projector (w/in 3 to 5 business days) to replace my current unit.

    Good luck.
