Big Guns!

I am about to add a new HD to my Dell dimension 8200 running Win XP home SP2. Having read lots of previous posts I know I need an IDE/ATA disk. Here are two which I'm tempted by, but my question is are they too big for my motherboard. They're both 200GB and I heard once that there is a limit to how much your mother board can actually handle.

Thanks for any advice!

Either will work; given Maxtor's recent quality control issues, WD is a safer buy.

I suggest if your just an ordinary home user, just buy 80-120 Gigabytes. Why buy a very huge HDD capacity? I got only 40 Gigabytes of HDD and I don't even know how to fill it all up? I have lots of games and hundreds of MP3's. It is quite senseless if we buy a very huge capacity of HDD which of course costs a lot but we're going to use it just as a typical home PC.

I agree that a regular home user probably doesn't need too much space.
However, many games and applications take up 10s of Gb now.
    For example: I have (2) 400Gb Sata disks and (2) 200 Sata drives. that's 1 Tb.
I use 400 Gb of that as a fake mirror of the data, but the rest is already full and I haven't even loaded more than winXP and Doom3 as applications.
I'd say it is all relative to the user.
