My Dimension 4600 has a Sony CD-RW CRX216E which began running intermittently almost a year ago.  I have been able to view data CDs that were created elsewhere, but have been unable to read software installation CDs, although when I tried again about a month ago, I was able to load one software CD.  I have no idea why it work then, when I had been trying for several months.

I've recently purchased a scanner and need to load the installation software, but again the drive is not reading the disk.  My computer recognizes the CD-RW Drive (D:) is available.

I've run the Driver Reset Tool, with no problems detected.  Tried several other recommendations from Dell, but still no luck.
