DVD Player problems
I can't get my DVD player on this laptop to recognize or play me Cds or DVDs..even ones i"ve been playing on it recently. Anything It's seen before it won't recognize & just keeps asking me to insert a CD/DVD.
This is a new laptop w/ VIST Home Premium, which I hate!! XP was never a problem. Also, DELL is impossible to get a hold of for tech. help.
This is the last DELL I'll ever buy.

You did not indicate if you have checked the troubleshooting guide in your Dell online manual. That's normally the place to start. If you would provide the model of your Dell system, I can look it up for you.
The second thing to do is try the CD/DVD troubleshooting guide in the CD/DVD FAQ (link below). If you are still getting nowhere, run the Dell diagnostics, article in the same FAQ.
