What is firewire? I had a test done on the system firewire failed, does this really matter computer is working so far? Is there anything I need to replace.
The model is a dell studio 540 Quad core processor, 6 g ram, 9800gt graphics card (nvida). BFG 550 watt power supply. Baracuda 500g hard drive. I thought I would go into detail since I did modify this computer a little. I just installed another fan that was a plug in. I did plug it into a component on the power supply. I did this so that way it would cool the tower off a bit since nvida likes to run hot. I also have another question. I am getting alot of low frames per sec or a jump from 60 to like 30 even lower in world of warcraft. I have modify firewall in windows, allowed ports to my router, and had to install a new hard drive into my computer since the old went bad. This was done yesterday. I installed a fresh copy of vista, updated all software and drivers known to man kind. I have also rolled back some drivers also, still nothing seems to improve. I calculated how many hours I have used up on my power supply since they said it was 18000 hour power supply. I have used up close to 15000 hours. So basically my question is could my supply battery gone bad since I first purchased it. I have done a burn in testing that is where I found the firewire issue. So I am kinda curious my frames per sec issue has anything do with this firewire thing or two separate issue. So I try and get another battery and see if it works or is this firewire issue cause a problem. What do I need to do to fix it.

Hi Lee2008,
Firewire is a type of connection. Perhaps if you provide the model of your computer, we'll know if you have a problem.
