We issue all our new laptops with HDD pass locks as a preventative measure from lost/stolen laptops and data been exposed on unprotected systems.

A coleague of mine, mentioned the pass lock on hdd can be bi-passed with a tool/utility from Dell.

My concearns are if this is true, will the public have access to such tools, is tghere any point on pass lock on hdd's in the 1st place.
