Help please
Alright so I just installed a new 80.0 GB hard drive (Samsung model) into my Dimension L800r. Now when I boot the computer it says invalid BOOT diskette. Insert BOOT Diskette into A:/. I have no idea what it is asking for. Could someone help me? Also is there a way to find out my password to the Startup setup. I can't remeber the password I used and it is really annoying.

Are you replacing your old drive with the 80 GB or adding a 2nd hdd? Let us know and we can go from there. Generally if you are adding a 2nd drive make sure your old drive has jumpers set for master or cable select, and that it is on the ide cable plug closest to the motherboard. The new drive should be set as slave, or cable select if on the same ide cable. If you are replacing your old drive and did not transfer your old HDD files, etc. to the new one and your system is set to boot from hdd, it now has nothing to boot. You can transfer your old hdd info using utilities that may have come with the drive or aftermartket.. or if you have a bootable cd for your operating system, go into your bios and set it to boot from cd. Insert the disc, reboot, and you can reinstall the OS to the new drive.
