Installing DVD-ROM Drive

I just bought a Lite-On LTD-163 16x DVD-ROM Drive and I have no idea how to install it. It came with a cord that I assume is the audio cord, a white thing that feels like it is made from plastic with three black bars on it that could go somewhere, but I'm not sure where. I have a Dimension 2400 desktop. If anyone has wny information I will so appreciate it. Thanks.

Your manual has information. If you've lost it, you can find the system documentation and other information for your system by hovering your mouse cursor over the Product Support button (upper left of this page), and selecting User Guides (or whatever). Then enter your service tag number and operating system, and you'll find all the information you need.

The thin cable is an audio cable. The wide cable is an IDE cable. There is a small pin on the back of the drive called a jumper. That should be set to the cable select (CS or CSel) position.

Good luck installing your drive. Please post back if you have any more questions.
