plug and play configuration error

My computer will not boot up beyond the plug and play configuration error.  More often it just beeps 3 times and not even reach the Dell screen. I do not want to do to much more damage so I am asking here what should I do if I can get to the Dell Screen again?  Much thanks!

    The Codes are here .........

Three beeps indicates "A failure occurred in the first 64 KB of memory".
Check this by reseating the memory.

    Also, check the Diagnostics Codes.

Thank you very much for helping,  I realize now it actually was 6 beeps.  Do you have any suggestions about the other sequence?    I appreciate your input.  I also must say the original problem probably  came from me attempting to replace my  NIC  with a new card which did not work.  I put the old NIC card back. That was where the trouble began.  After that point, I have not been able to boot the HDD.

I do not know what to do about 6 beeps.  However. trace back your steps.
Reseat the card you removed and replaced previously.  See where your hand
is as you do it.  Maybe you bumped something loose.  Check the cabling to
the hard drive and the motherboard.

Do the Diagnostics light indicate a problem?

Perhaps you may want to remove the old card to see if the system will boot.
