Raid Volume Query

Hi,

Just took delivery of a new XPS studio 8100 - fantastic looking PC :emotion-1:

Followed the set up procedure - no problems - Windows 7 on screen !

However hears the thing:

It has two 1TB HDD's in a RAID0(stripe) configuration array0=1.7TB, array1=63GB - the 1.7TB is allocated OS volume C: & 63GB is allocated to DATAPART1 voulmeD:  The dell standard factory set up I presume. :emotion-6:

Is it possible to re size the arrays without doing a complete re install - I want volume c: @ 1TB and the remaining space allocated to volume D: for data?

If this is possible I would be grateful for step by step instructions. If it is not possible can you describe how to set the PC up from scratch again step by step (please bare in mind I was not supplied with an OS installation disk - the OS is on the hard disk, presumably in the recovery volume) - I am not sure how to about this :emotion-10:

    Hi Gazzas,

    There should be partitions for your RAID array, as well as one for the Dell utilities and another for the Windows 7 recovery partition. Neither of the latter two should show up with a drive letter. Did you check disk management to see exactly how things are set up?

    Thanks for your intrest and reply.

    The set up shown in Disk Management Console is as follows:-

    Disk 0: 86MB NTFS OEM partition,   9.90GB NTFS Recovery (System, Active, Primary Partition),   1790.01GB NTFS OS (C:) (Boot, Page File, Crash Dump, Primary Partition)

    Disk 1: 63.02 GB NTFS DATAPART1 (D:) (Primary Partition)

    All partitions are Healthy

     

    Intel Rapid Storage Tecnology - Option ROM - 9.5.0.1037 shows:-

    ARRAY0  RAID0(Stripe)  128KB  1.7TB  Normal  Bootable

    ARRAY1  RAID0(Stripe)  128KB 63.0GB  Normal Bootable

    Port0  WDC  931.5GB Member Disk(0,1)

    Port1  WDC  931.5GB Member Disk(0,1)

     

    Hope this lot is useful and you can help me - my preference would be to a have 1TB C: OS Primary Partition & the remainder as D: for data
