Weird CD problem
My CD and DVD drive doesn't seem to auto-play when I insert the CD. Instead, I have to go through the CD contents and execute the program on it instead.
I think its more of a driver issue as there is also times when my cd/dvd drive is "lagging" behind. When I change to another cd, my cd/dvd drive will treat the new cd as the old one, as when I look at the contents of the CD, it shows the previous CD's contents instead.
The only way for it to load the CD the "right way is by leaving the cd in the cd-drive and restart the comp. After restarting, the cd can be "auto-played" and the icon for the app on the cd is shown on the drive (along with the name of the cd, too)
My only guess is to reinstall the drivers for both of my CD and DVD drives...

Hi Nekkunio,
Microsoft has a number of articles on Auto play, Click on the CD/RW gif in my post and scroll to Section 100, articles, 33, 50 & 59.
If you believe it it be a driver issue, at the same CD/RW link, consider Section 15, article 1; Section 20, article 3, Section 100, article 31 and Section 11, article 2.
Dell does have firmware updates for both of these drives but I would suggest you consider Anthony`s article and these above before trying the firmware.

Nice site...although the predator is kinda spooky
Using the article, I found out that one of the prog that shipped with my Dell computer was doing the autoplay. I disabled it (via Msconfig), but when I re-enabled it, it start working again.
I reenabled DSentry and tfswctr and autoplay seems to work as normal...I wonder how I can use autoplay with out one of these app?

go here and look under autoplay and see if this helps. You also might have to many things going on the computer at one time. I have seen more than one person who adds all the things like things to change how the mouse looks on the computer and such and then with the memory they have they have just to many things going on at one time. Try going to ctl alt and del then stop some of the programs then see if your cds play right.
