so, I was doing general maint. on my second computer upstairs which is only used primarily for internet animal rescue operations.....its a 3000, the one im on downstairs is a 4700, my primary...

 

anyway, i went into "add/remove programs" and saw Earthling Install.....well, im on a cable modem with Adelphia, so i thought "heck...ill just remove this...ill never use it"..so I clicked 'remove'  got a prompt that said 'cannot remove this program, you must insert the earthlink, please insert ..."...

 

well.....i dont have an earthlink disk, and i checked the  disks that came with the computer, its not on any of them.. i looked at the files, even inserted them...nada.  so i said "oh well..no biggie".....

 

well, now everytime i open internet explorer i get a windows install prompt that says "the program you are trying to install requires inserting the earthlink disc".......what the heck is that about.  i ran all the maint options, i did system restore, i went to start up to see if its there, its not........ nothing works!!!!!!!  its agravating, i just hit "cancell" on the intaller window and it goes away and exployer loads fine....and it does not come back unless i close exployer...then its back... rebooting...nothing works.

 

any ideas?
