You could in previous generations of Symmetrix configure SRDF how you want to.  I think when the DMX series was released EMC no longer supported it and you (to my knowledge) cannot configure SRDF from same array to same array.  We used to do it for lab use and learning purposes; which is what I think you are looking for.

i tried to create and SDRF Group on the same (Hardware group) in a VMAX 20K and in a DMX4 and it was not possible.

Probably you are right Mr. Hosterman, because i could not have the chance to use Static RDF. We use only Dynamic.

I will check it tomorrow again.

I think it might still be possible, but I believe it requires static RDF and P2P connection.

Cody, from what I read it looks like Static RDF requires a bin file change which can be done only by EMC Support. Is there a way to set this up from SYMCLI or from Unisphere? Also, can you please elaborate on the P2P connection - what it is and how to set it up?

No, the creation of static RDF group cant be done using the SYMCLI/SMC/Unisphere. It is created through BIN file change only.

you don't need static rdf groups to use dynamic groups. To check what kind of groups you have
