installing VMware - new VM won't let me use a physical drive...

I've installed vmware server on my dell d430 laptop, to demo lefthand's new VSA ISCSI SAN. after installing the server, attempting to install an XP vm presents a problem - I can't select a physical drive (my external CD/DVD drive) from which to install the guest OS. Left Hand hasn't heard of this one, nore has vmware, so I thought I'd ask here. I'd prefer not to create an ISO on my laptop to install XP vm's for a demo.

Any advise is appreciated!

I found this item on the Ubuntu forum that sounds alot like your problem.

Not sure that it is actually the same however. Did you try restarting the VMware Server service after attaching the external CDROM?
