Closing Internet Causes Blank Pages
IE 7, Windows XP Pro SP3
Whenever I close out Explorer, I get a blank page. Sometimes it takes a long time for a page to load, and when it finally does, I get a page not found error.

It's still doing the same thing.
I use yahoo as my opening page to the internet.
(1) When I search for information, either through
Google or typing in a search with ( WWW. x x x x)
Upon closing that URL out, it places a blank sheet
up on the screen instead of closing completely.
Have to click the red X to close the blank page
And click it again to completely close. (twice)
(2) I can not open anything up on my desktop, until
Stop Zilla opens,(which takes a long time), then you can click a program on the desktop page.

O.k. We still have a couple of more things to do.

(No malicious items detected)Reply Do you use a router?
If so;
Some Malware set redirect triggers in routers by way of DNS manipulation.
The only way to fix this is to do a hard reset on the router.
On most routers the reset button is on the back, but the location could be different depending on the model. On most models the button is in a hole and does not protrude out. So you may have to use an ink pen tip (or something similar ) to depress the reset button.
So Disconnect from the internet and do a hard reset on the router. Depress the reset button for 15 seconds.
Reboot and see if that resolves your redirection issue.Reply

I. We need to temporarily disable Spybot S&D so it doesn't interfere with our fix
1) Run Spybot-S&D
2) Go to the Mode menu, and make sure "Advanced Mode" is selected
3) On the left hand side, choose Tools -> Resident
4) Uncheck "Resident TeaTimer" and OK any prompts
5) Restart your computer.
II. 1. Rerun Hijackthis (scan only) and place checks beside the following entries
F3 - REG:win.ini: load= C:\SKW2\remind.exe
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {02478D38-C3F9-4efb-9B51-7695ECA05670} - (no file)
Close all other open windows except Hijackthis and Select " Fix checked"
Close Hijackthis
III. 1. Please download The Avenger by Swandog46 to your Desktop.
2. Copy all the text contained in the bold below to your Clipboard by highlighting it and pressing (Ctrl+C):
Files to delete:
C:\SKW2\remind.exe
